Honda recalls almost 304,000 Accords and HR-Vs over seat belt defect

Honda is recalling almost 304,000 Accord and HR-V vehicles due to a potential seat belt defect. According to Honda, the recall affects 294,000 Accord vehicles from the model years 2018–2020 and 10,000 HR-V vehicles from the model years 2019–2020.

Honda says the vehicles may have a defect in the driver side front seat belt that could cause the belt webbing to tear under certain crash conditions. If this occurs, it could increase the risk of injury to a driver in an accident.

In the recall, Honda says it will inspect the seat belt assembly and, if necessary, replace it free of charge at an authorized Honda dealer. Customers will also be instructed on how to inspect and use the seat belt properly.

Honda will begin notifying customers of the recall on April 28, 2021. Honda recommends that customers who have received the notification immediately take their vehicle to a local dealer to get the defect repaired.
